Alica is a typeface that was originally designed for the wooden blocks for letterpress. Much like the Alice in the Wonderland (the inspiration for the typeface name) the designer set herself on a journey. The idea behind the design was to exaggerate in the right way. The result is a mix of extremely heavy strokes, exaggerated ink traps and a great deal of details. A combination that has led to many alternatives. Bold and rich in detail, Alica is a perfect mix of modern and classic, audacious and cautious, aggressive and calm a thin line between applicability and silliness.
The typeface family combines three scripts: Latin, Cyrillic and Arabic, where the prioritisation was to harmonize the shapes of each script into unified family, with respect to the heritage of the scripts and the intention of them working together as a family.
